I take your point but Joan has done much better versions of that song. Don't hit me but actually I like hers better (agree that clip is a bit lame).

Don't read the comments on any of the versions of this song on youtube - some of them are still fighting the Civil War.

The Joan Baez clip Ned linked. I just didn't see anything "lame" about the clip. OK, so the attempt at audience participation was a bit cheesy. I rather like Joan solo, with her guitar, over the more "orchestrated" treatment her recordings often received.

Oh, I think I know a little of the story. Remember "the Danville train"? I live in Danville.

To those it is more likely "The War of Northern Aggression", although I find that ludicrous. And since nothing about war is ever "civil", I prefer "The War Between The States".
